With a federal budget crunch looming, Congress this month canceled Pentagon plans to buy and launch two commercial imagery satellites planned in the Broad Area Space-Based Imagery Collection satellite system (BASIC). Additionally, Congress has cut funding for another experimental satellite, the Transformational Communications Satellite or TSAT.
